Parenting Apart Cooperatively Class

Parenting Together Cooperatively Program in Wausau, WIThe Wisconsin Legislature permits courts to order divorce parenting education classes as a condition of granting a divorce. This course is 3 to 4 hours in length and is devoted specifically to the effects of a divorce upon the children and how parents can best meet the special needs of their children following the divorce.

Both parents in every action for divorce or legal separation involving children must attend and complete this course, in addition to most of those involved in paternity proceedings.

When completed, a Certificate of Completion is filed with the court to verify compliance with this program.

  • The effects of parental warfare.
  • Age-related effects of divorce upon children including grief, loss, guilt, developmental delays, loyalty conflicts, and reconciliation fantasies.
  • The Children’s Bill of Rights.
  • Marathon County Court procedures in divorce
  • Parenting plans and agreements
  • Co-parenting skills following separation. The techniques to reduce stress, resolve conflicts, and develop communication skills and strategies.
  • New relationships- step-families- the effects of dating, remarriage, and blended families on the children. Roles of step-parenting.


At Peaceful Solutions Counseling we offer this one time class every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 8:00 am-noon. You must call ahead of time to sign up for the group. (715) 675-3458

The program content has been approved by the court.

The classes are also offered at 3 other local agencies on different days of the week and at different times in order to accommodate a variety of work schedules.
