How it all began…

In the Spring of 2007, Lee Shipway and Todd Werner established Peaceful Solutions Counseling with the intention to help intervene in the lives of children, adults and families who were challenged by issues such as abuse, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma and grief.

“What began as a small non-profit with only four people has expanded to five times that…”

What began as a small non-profit with only four people working to make a difference has expanded to five times that, with additional support staff, therapists, and programming. Peaceful Solutions would not be where it is today without the aspirations and knowledge of Lee and Todd.

Since we operate as a non-profit agency we are able to provide services to many children, adults and families who are uninsured and unable to pay for mental health and alcohol and drug services.  We believe that all people should have access to quality and affordable mental health and AODA therapy/treatment.  We do not turn people away because of their inability to pay.  We are a Certified Mental Health Clinic, as well as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Clinic.  We accept most insurance and M.A. for services.  For those who are uninsured, we offer a sliding fee based on your income and number of dependents. We are able to offer these reduced fees because of the generosity of the Marathon County and Merrill Area United Way. Our facility is a member of the National Health Services Corps.

In the spring of 2013, Family Counseling Services merged with Peaceful Solutions Counseling.   Family Counseling Services of Wausau had been serving the needs of our community since 1914 and has made very important  contributions to this community throughout the years by providing a wide variety of services and programs.

We believe this merger was a natural outgrowth of trying to meet the ever changing and complex needs of our community. As a result of this merger we know that we will be better equipped to respond to the ever changing community needs, now and in the future. We are excited  about what the future holds for this agency and the ability to continue to rise up and meet the challenges.

Because our organization is operated for charitable purposes, all gifts are tax deductible.  Any size donation is able to make an impact and would be greatly appreciated.  You are able to help one person...one child…one problem at a time.

We would like to thank The Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin for their donation to help us with I.T. upgrades and purchasing of some computers!
